Passport

Embassy of Finland issues passports to Finnish citizens and travel documents in emergency cases to EU-citizens, whose nation does not have a representation in Nepal.

The applicant must come to fill up the passport application personally to the Embassy of Finland during office hours (8.30 AM to 4.15 PM from Monday to Friday).

Fingerprints will be taken of persons over 12 years applying for any type of passport except for temporary passport 

Passports

• passport for five years, delivery in 3-4 weeks

• passport with fast delivery in approx 10 days. Additionally to the passport charge customer has to pay the postal charge (approx 100 euros)

• temporary passport - only for returning to home country - will be granted only in special circumstances, validity of the passport will be a few weeks. Delivery in 2-3 days.

Requirements for a Finnish Passport Application

• one passport photo, see below for exact quality requirements

• current passport (even if it has expired) or other ID with a photograph

• should the previous valid passport be lost or stolen, a police report is to be shown

• applicants under 18 years of age need a written consent of the legal guardians in order to apply for a Finnish passport

Requirements for Application Photographs

• background must be plain and light colored without shadows and lighter than the face 

• picture must be taken from the front of the face, eyes looking at the camera

• photograph must have been taken recently (within 6 months)

• dimensions of the picture: width 36 mm and length 47 mm, 
  where length of the face must be in the range of 32 - 36 mm 

• for visa and residence permit: color photo

• for passport: color or a black and white photo
